Airtight, Flexible Seals Where Gips Meets Floors, Walls, or Ceilings

A perfect gips installation doesn’t end at the edge. Our Edge Sealing (Fuging) service ensures every transition – where gips meets concrete, timber, tiles, or adjacent walls — is properly sealed with acoustic or flexible sealant. This prevents air leakage, blocks sound flanking paths, and accommodates thermal or seasonal movement. Required by many manufacturers for acoustic/fire-rated wall and ceiling systems, it’s a small step that delivers long-term performance. Proper edge sealing can improve acoustic performance by up to 10 dB – and prevents cold air leaks from behind gips.

Service Edge Sealing (Fuging) Between Gips and Other Surfaces Includes:

  • Application of high-quality flexible sealant (acrylic, silicone, or acoustic mastic) along gips junctions:
    • Wall-to-floor
    • Wall-to-ceiling
    • Wall-to-window or wall-to-column joints
  • Surface cleaning and priming, where needed, to ensure proper adhesion
  • Joint fill depth sized according to gap width (typically 3–10 mm)
  • Smooth tooling of sealant for a clean aesthetic finish
  • Compatible with Norgips and Knauf acoustic and fire-rated detailing standards

Service Edge Sealing (Fuging) Between Gips and Other Surfaces doesn't include:

  • Visible skirting boards, trims, or paint finishing
  • Expansion joint sealing over 10 mm wide (custom quote)
  • Waterproofing-grade sealing (see Wetroom Layering or specialty sealing)
  • Sealant material – quoted separately
